Accessing Law.com Publications

Accessing law.com, including NY Law Journal and National Law Journal

Use the tabs along the top to access specific publications (for example,  New York Law Journal  is under U.S. tab in image below).

Registering and managing Law.com Newsletters and Alerts

Registering for law.com newsletters and alerts

  1. Go to any law.com publication and authenticate.  You can use any of the links above. 
  2. Scroll down until you see the "For You" link on the right and click on "Create account".
  3. Make sure to use your official Hofstra.edu email address in the email address field. 
  4. You may be required to complete these fields.  Enter whatever you think is appropriate, for example, "Hofstra Law School" and "student".

    Job Area:

    Depending upon what you enter, you may see the following.  Again, enter whatever you think is appropriate - perhaps your area of interest.

Managing law.com newsletters and search alerts 

Newsletters

  1. Once you have created an account and authenticated, you will see your initials in the upper right.   
  2. Click on your initials. Choose Newsletters to receive periodic emails from specific publications, such as the American Lawyer or National Law Journal.

 

3. Once in the Newsletters tab, you can review Current Subscriptions and add additional Newsletters. Scroll or use the dropdown menu to see available Newsletters, such as National Law Journal .  Check the boxes for Newsletters you would like to receive.  Uncheck boxes for those you wish to stop. 

4. To customize your My Law.com Daily Digest Newsletter, go to Preferences.  Choose region (such as NY for stories from NY Law Journal) and topics (such as AI or Legal Education) for any topic of interest.

 

Alerts

5.  To get alerts for specific regions (such as New York for the New York Law Journal) or topics (such as AI or Legal Education), you must make these choices in Preferences, as described above.   

 

6. Once you have chosen your Preferences, choose My Alerts under your initials to set up an alerts for regions, topics or your own search terms.  

7.  In order to receive email messages, activate your chosen alerts and specify delivery preferences.
